You may fill in the online application, if you have already been accepted as an exchange/degree student for UTA/TUT/TAMK for autumn semester 2010 and you have not lived in Finland during the previous semester.
Please fill in the application carefully and be sure of selecting the right educational institution as we only accept one application per applicant.
When TOAS offers you a room, we will inform you about it via E-mail. If you do not accept the offer, you need to inform us by E-mail by 15 July 2010. Otherwise the offer will be treated as a contract. Exchange students will sign a fixed term contract with a specified ending date, which may not be ended earlier. Degree students will sign open ended contracts with one calendar month’s notice time due to the length of their stay. All contracts for autumn semester will be signed as of 1.8.2010.
Before any room reservation, you need to pay a fee of 325 euros (refundable deposit 250 euros and non-refundable reservation fee of 75 euros) We will give you more details on the deposit and reservation process on the confirmation E-mail. Deposit payment will be refunded to you as your contract has ended. The room reservations are made in the order of the deposit payments' arrival to our account.
Furnished locations
You will have your own bed and mattress, table and chair and a bookshelf. Bring your own bedding (sheets, blanket, pillow and pillow cover) and towels with you or buy them after your arrival. We do not provide any kitchen ware. Student unions of universities may have some “survival kits” available. We have linen service only in City (155) location, where bedding is included.
You may not choose your location as we have to make the reservation according to availability. Accommodation will be reserved for you as close to your school as possible. If all the rooms in the closest possible location have been reserved, TOAS has the right to reserve you accommodation in another location. You may then use the Tampere city bus connections to get to your school.
Shared apartment means that each tenant has their own room in an apartment for two to four persons of the same gender, where tenants share the kitchen and bathroom. Shared room means that you share the room with another student of the same gender. Each tenant must clean and keep their room and common areas in a proper condition.
2. Finnish application (Secondary)
You may also apply together with Finnish applicants. If you choose this alternative, please print out the Application form, fill it in and post/fax/scan it to the TOAS housing office (contact details). You do not have to pay deposit beforehand.
Please note that by applying this way, TOAS cannot guarantee you a room (or furnished room) for autumn semester. You will be put to a queue together with Finnish applicants, where you will wait until the apartment you have applied for is available. TOAS strongly recommends you to apply by using International application.
IMPORTANT: You can fill only one application: International application OR Finnish application.
